These images grew out of a desire to isolate and elevate the iconic status of ordinary subjects by making careful photographic choices. I met average hobbyists, sportsmen, and athletes who approached their practiced activities with profound skill and seriousness, something which I hoped to capture in the images even though no action beyond acknowledging the camera is presented.
